Alexandra Fotinou was born in Canada and grew up in Corfu. She began dancing in the Dance Laboratory of Corfu and a little later she studied ballet, modern, flamenco and jazz.
She graduated from the Laban Center in London with excellence, taking The Bachelor of Dance Movement (professional faculty of dance) and took up with with the authentic Latin dances. She specialised in the Cuban movement via travels lasting several months in the Latin countries, attending seminars and apprenticeship next to famous Latin dance teachers (R, Fournier, E.Tores, H.Gonzales).
She got off with and studied the dance of abdomen (oriental dance or belly dance) during travels she made in Arabic countries (1997-1999). She started dancing professionally after her collaboration with the well known Greek artist N.Kourkouli, presenting oriental show at Music Hall N.Dilina . At the same time she organised and participated in oriental seminars with the known French dancer Ottilie Eucher and the American Zahraa .
Since then, she has being dancing in numerus well known Greek restaurants (Ya Hala, Garden of Edem, Habiba and others) in big clubs also (Fogg’s , Salon Oriental, Privilege, Ekati, Destill, Exo, Aurora, Micraasia) and in countless parties, shows, presentations (Vodafone, Seat), promotions, weddings, Hotels (St George Lycabetus) etc.
At the same time she has appeared in a ariety of TV shows (M.Triantafillopoulos, R.Koromila, E.Drouza, S.Digeni and others). She is also teaching private and open classes in Dance schools and Gym’s.
During the winter ’02 she performed in Istanbul in the famous Turkish restaurant Beyoglu (Karafaki) and started performing at the Orient bar-restaurant in Thessaloniki, where she is also giving seminars in oriental dances.
During 2003 she performed at the birthday party of a South Arabian prince in Ibiza Spain. She also danced in Cyprus and in most of the Greek cities and Islands. She attended private oriental dance courses with Raquia Hassan, Aida Nour and Nagua Sultan, in Egypt.
In 2004 she danced at the club Privilege, at the Club 22 and organised ethnic spectacles at the club Destil (Bo). She also co-performed with the well known musicians Haig Yazdjian, Nihat Natzar and Mohamet Arafa at the musical stage Alavastron. She danced at various new clubs’ “Taz Mahal”, “Tsakra”, “Maharaja”, “Darma Kaya”, “Ghost”.
In 2005 she presented oriental shows at the stages of “Xaramis” and “Epohes”. She co-performed with the Iraqui musician Mohamed Aluma at varius musical stages ( Micraasia, Small Theatre of Koukaki, Baraki tou Basili) where she also presented her own dance and musical performance.
Also she performs at a folk concert in the centre of Athens by the municipality of Athens.
In 2004-05 she took part in the TV series “Arhipelagos” and “Apagorevmeni Agapi” and in all TV channels at various emissions. Also took part in the TV shows of E.Menegaki, S.Digeni, A.Pavlopoulos,X.Lambiri,J. Arnaoutoglou, K.Vefa, N. Kouvelogianni, M. Tsoukala, S.Aliberti. Also at “Morning Kous Kous” in Alpha Channel, at the morning show of N. Kakaounakis in Mega Channel, at “Colours of Greece from Mykonos” in ET3 and in various shows of Channel 10.
She participated in the radio television marathon of N. Aliagas in Mega Ch. and Star ch. presented three portraits of her in the channels News.
The Greek and Turkish press has written for her various times: Playboy ( March 2002), Sabah and Posta ( Jouly and Sept. 2002), Eleutherotipia (Oct. 2003), Woman (June 2004), Traffic (Oct. 2004), Espresso (Dec. 2004,Nov.-Dec.΄05), Loipon (Feb. 2005), Image (March 2005).
2005-06 She attended a series of seminars with Suha Azar (Lebanon) and Assia Germa (Algeria) and was responsible and danced at the show of the luxurious oriental club “Passa” She performed also at the stage of “Caramela”and danced for ten days at a festival with famous Greek singers at the Stadium of Piece and Friendship. After that she danced with the famous Greek singer Glikeria at the Loutraki Casino She performed at the first Greek-African Beauty contest. Also she performs at “Tamam”, “ Nargile”, and “Kama Supa”.
She always continues her TV appearances in most of the biggest TV shows and in Jan. ΄06 Anna Drouza presents her work in a two hour TV show.
The Turkish ΝTV channel presented a portrait of her as the most well known Greek bellydancer (Apr.΄06).
Alexandra was the first to introduce the oriental shows at the clubs (starting at “Fogg΄s”2001 also the first belly dancer to have presented the shows of Wings of Isis and Candelabra in Greece and also the first to play the leading part in a video clip of a famous singer (Z.Melas).
